7 Pieces of Advice to Work in Commodity Business

This requires knowledge and preparation, but you can achieve it with these simple tips.

Learning the secrets and insights of a business is a great way to stay prepared for the challenges of that area. Knowing the small facts and secrets of the business activity makes an incredible difference as far as problem-solving goes, for example. And this is just the tip of the iceberg as far as how relevant this knowledge is for your professional practice. For that reason, it’s advisable that you think of getting a bit of insider knowledge before delving into the commodity business. Once you do, however, there are a few things that we can teach you on how to work in the commodity business and succeed. Want to know more? Here are these incredible 7 pieces of advice!

  • Prepare for the certifications: like any business qualification, the ones related to commodity tasks are particularly tricky. The Series 3  is considered among the hardest professional qualifications. To prepare for it, study for the test beforehand, investigate and face it like any other academical test: with time and preparation.

  • Invest in your qualifications: other professional skills also need some investment. Certifications in quality assessment, a particular product knowledge, creation of documentation and so on, requires a significative investment. Not only in monetary value, but in time. While they might take a big part of your working hours, in the future, they will come in handy to present yourself with professionalism in front of potential clients and providers.

  • Define your specialty: commodity markets are incredibly varied. While most of them deal with raw material, the number of sub categories to be on is astounding. Finding one where to specialize is your best bet. This will allow you to focus on the demands and characteristics of that particular field, helping you create effective strategies for your potential clients.

  • Create a provider network: after you define your specialty, you need to connect with the providers. They will be the ones that at the end of the day, will help your business be productive. Contacting and establishing mutually beneficial associations with providers of your field will ensure that you get business opportunities and be a step ahead of your competitors.

  • Build working partnerships: other people in the commodity business need to be your priority aside from clients. Commodity brokers often get contacted by people that want the product they specialize in, but others will be searching for products they don’t handle. Creating working partnerships ensures that you can satisfy the demands of your client through a third party, and both of you will be earning something out of that association.

  • Develop a personal brand: while most commodity brokers work side by side with a bigger company, creating a solid personal brand often does make a difference. This means that you need to take care of your public image and work thinking of how your actions can impact in your professional profile. Most people investigate their potential commodity brokers ahead of time and will back out of a potential deal if they see a lack of professionalism from the commodity broker. This means: take care of the image you portray online, as this is your second presentation card.

  • Act the part: while for most this might not seem like a big deal, behaving at all times as a professional makes a difference in the commodity business. If you are sure of what you know and you are competent, then act like it. That confident attitude will not be negative if used the right way. People see this image you are projecting and will feel like their money and cargo are in capable hands. Even if you are a bit nervous at first, you need to be the businessman your clients need to trust!

Working in commodities does not mean working entirely on your own. It means preparing and learning all you can, both professionally and personally. Commodity brokers are professionals that specialize in trading and require not only a particular skill set but also a focus on what they are doing. Prepare and learn all the work field and personal insights and be the best broker in the commodity business!

Sugar Manufacture: The Transformation Process

The base of the production for candy is high-quality sugar.

Sugar is one of the vital elements in manufacturing business. It’s the base of a complete market, and it’s also a common ingredient in billions of other products aside from the candy industry. By itself as refined, brown or white, this is also a key market for manufacturing industries. But before it reaches either of these fields, the sugar is transformed from its raw state to its preferred presentation. How is this process made? Today you’re going to learn it all from the professionals at
Coagro Corp.

The origin of sugar is varied, especially according to the location. In Europe, the preferred source it’s the beet for a variety of reasons, among which is the inability to sustain the production of sugarcane in lower temperature. This is because sugarcane requires copious amounts of water per year, as well as tropical temperatures to grow. Regardless of the source, the process it’s much the same for both of them to get to the table and industries.

Harvesting: Sugar, regardless of its origin, sugarcane and beets are harvested through industrial methods. This makes the production process easier for every part.
Clearing: As natural products, sugarcane and beets need to be cleaned and prepared. This is done by using water to clean them up before going ahead in the processing.
Shredding: After being transported to the plant, the breakdown beings. The product it’s shredded by knives, turning its structure into mush for further processing.
Milling: Sugar mush is then pressed in mills to extract the juice. In this step, the pressing generates several liquids through the process; the most important is called “vesou”. This is the one used to fabricate sugar, and it's high in sucrose levels.
Clearing: Using water and the residual juice from the previous steps. Chemicals are added, most of them are used to separate the impurities from the process.
Crystallization: Sugar is taken into a vacuum, where high temperatures evaporate the excess liquid from the sugar mush. Small grains of sugar are added, and the resulting product it’s called “massecuite.
Centrifugation: The massecuite is then centrifuged to separate sugar per se from molasses, that’s the by-product of the crystallization process. The separated sugar is then dried and packed.

After all is said and done, the resulting product is transported to the industries and companies that transform it or package it for the market. One of the companies that makes sure that every part of the process it’s perfect for your market is Coagro Corp. They are professionals in the commodity service of sugar, and will make sure that you get the best product possible. Contact them now!

Cost-benefit Criteria when Buying Products

It's important you know that you can get a product at a reasonable price for the best cost.

Business owners are always on the search for opportunities to increase their profit margins. Most of them focus on lowering the prices or improving the quality to make their products better than what the competition offers in the market. This is one of the most frequent ways to attract potential buyers.

One thing that the owners know is that, regardless of the methods they use to draw in customers, the real profit it’s in the manufacturing process. They will spend money on buying prime material and transforming them into products that will reach the market needs, and this is where cost-benefit criteria play a key role.

Cost-benefit criteria is the relationship established between the value of your investment (whether  in monetary or quality measures) and the profit you can make out of the distribution of the product. This criteria is very important in the selection process for prime material because the prices rule the market. Any company knows that cheaper raw products will generate higher benefits. However, these are often related to lower quality materials. But there are certain things that you, as a business owner, can do to have the best products for the right prices.

How to find the right cost-benefit criteria?

Because every industry is different, the criteria will always be different. For organic products, for example, the origin of the animal or vegetal from which it comes from is vital; but for inorganic products, the previous manufacturing process is more important. These two divisions are just examples as to what you should look for when picking elements to define your cost benefit criteria. Here are  handy general tips to create a basic cost-benefit criteria:

  • Compare the quality of your competitors:
The market will be full of competitors ready to sell you any product you need. You’ll need to compare to find a quality and price relationship to define cost-benefit criteria. Who are their clients? Who are the top sellers of that product? These are basic questions you must answer by doing a simple investigation. Then you can list them and create a proper contrast of the competition.
  • Investigate current prices: The commodity markets are often world-wide determined. Check the standard prices of your product and investigate which importing company offers the best prices. Compare them to those you already know.
  • Verify sources: Knowing where your product comes from it’s crucial. Knowing where your prime material comes from allows you to identufy the characteristics of these in the market. For example, certain products are known to have country-wide quality standards, such as the green coffee from Colombia.
  • Consult with professionals: Companies that focus on giving commodity services will often compete against each other to attract customers through consulting. This competition creates a market trail that you should use to guide your cost-benefit criteria: what do they offer? What methods are they using to compete against other companies? What are each company pros and cons? Invest in investigating and learning as much as you can  to create your own opinion.

Contrasting the quality of the products you acquire against the quality of your competitors, and getting the best price for materials that will be manufactured to perfection requires a careful study and analysis. Keep in mind that the definition of a cost-benefit criteria it’s often the difference between a small and a large business: the latter makes informed choices that impact their company’s growth on the market.

Coagro Corp offers unique alternatives for companies: from importation of products to consulting services. They make sure they give you the options for you to make a smart choice. They also provide something that most companies don’t: they guarantee stability in prices for a period of time, ensuring that you’ll get the best price in the market without having to worry about fluctuations in the overall prices.

They know how to offer great monetary value, and above all, provide you with the right materials for your manufacturing process. Transportation Methods in the Importing of Products

Once your products reach your land, they are transported in various methods according to their nature.

The business of importing products move millions of dollars around the world. But this business does comprehend not only money but also complex work strategies. There are different methods to transport tons and tons of material, from raw materials to manufactured goods, according to the location and size of the load. If it's small, it can be transported by air, but when it comes to big amounts, the preferred methods are related to cargo ships.

However, it all depends on the industry and the relation between the desired final location and the exportation place, as these all intervene in how the companies, mostly commodity services, pick the method to take products from place A to place B. But, even so, what exactly these methods are? How do they impact the way the load is transported?

-Air: These are mostly used for delicate products, and for shippings that require special attention. Mostly used for small services, such as door-to-door exportations, and even web shopping, the method of shipping through planes it’s often used in small measures. While not impossible to transport bulks in big planes, these transportation methods are restricted by the limited capacity of the transporting plane.

-Land: This method is used more often in combination with other methods. While it’s not the primary way of transportation in most cases, for importation from countries near the final destination, it can be a more comfortable option. The best thing about this transporting option is that it can carry various presentation of the products, whether raw or manufactured.

-Sea: The most common transportation method for bulk transport is water related.  The bulks are often placed in identified containers, that can be owned by one company and rented to another, or can be owned by the commodity service. These are often used for manufacturing industries, whether to import raw material or to take finished products to their destination. They are also used to transport big products, such as cars.

-Multimodal: It’s a combination of two or more services. These are often used when the imported goods are located far from the seaports or airports, and that require land transport. They can also be related to the limitation of the services that work with them.

All these methods can correlate according to the company you pick to do your shippings. The most common denominator is the effectivity: companies with experience in the importation field know exactly how to combine methods to ensure that your imported products, whether raw or manufactured, reach your desired location. One of such companies is Coagro Corp. They offer transportation services for their imported goods, and consulting services for people in the lookout for a commodity service. Contact them now!

Certain products have certain limitations when it comes to their transportation processes.

What is Product Sourcing?

That’s what the product sourcing process does: find the right product to fit your individual needs.

For any company nowadays, finding the right options to sell and to buy is vital for success. The kind of service they provide goes hand in hand with the quality of the raw material they use to produce the best result. That’s why, in the manufacturing business, the primary elements used to fabricate the products are direct responsibilities for the resulting goods. Thus creating the need for having the best raw material available in the market, and these are obtained through the correct product sourcing.

What is product sourcing?

Any manufacturing business requires machinery along with basic materials to produce their goods. For them, acquiring quality for specific portions of the market it’s vital: they need to obtain the best products available to generate official results for production processes over extended periods of time. These need to fit a certain standard in price, as well as in individual features. But for a business that handle millions of other things, personally picking the characteristics of each one of their preferred raw materials sounds like an exercise in futility. That’s what the product sourcing process does: find the right product to fit your individual needs.

Product sourcing is one of the first steps in the manufacturing process, only second to the decision of product creation itself and structural planning of operations. Nowadays this process is faster because of the availability of technological options: companies can contact with commodity brokers and providers to get information regardless of their location in the world.

The fact that availability of connections increases the chance of having the right product delivered at your door does not make the product sourcing simpler: you need to know the overall characteristics of the market, as well as the characteristics of the products itself directly from the provider. This will ensure that the manufacturing process is done correctly and that the products fabricated to fit the market requirements.

If you want to work with professionals in product sourcing, as well as with commodity services and even consulting, then Coagro Corp is the option for you. Make sure to contact them to have the best products available for your company! Check their website and social media profiles to learn more about the services they can provide you!

Sugar: Production and Types

Depending on the source, sugar can vary from brown to organic.

For most suppliers, the main products to be sold are the ones with the higher demand in the market. Annually, the profit of producing raw material, such as coffee beans and sugar, make this business a niche that gives off significant financial benefits.
Especially sugar is a worldwide product that stands out as the most consumed in many countries, and it’s also earning a place among the growing markets, such as Asia, the Middle East and Africa (the last two to a lesser extent).
The main sources of sugar are from the sugarcane and sugar beet, and the sucrose obtained from both is identical. Sugarcane is the most used in comparison with sugar beet, representing 80% of the sugar production.
Cultivation & Harvest
Sugarcane cultivation takes place in tropics and subtropics, where water supply is good enough to sustain their growth for 6 to 7 months every year. Florida and Louisiana are the main cultivators of sugarcane nowadays.
The harvesting is done by hand and mechanically, but hand harvesting dominates most of the production. The first step to hand harvest the crops is to set the field on fire; this process burns all the dry leaves and possible animals that could nest there. The fire doesn’t harm the stalks and roots, so after the fire is out harvesters, you just have to cut the cane –above ground-level–, using machetes or cane knives.
Milling and refining
The milling process involves the preparation of cane after being received. Milling machines are in charge of extracting the cane’s juice; then comes the clarification process that removes all imperfections and suspended solids from the juice. After cleansing, evaporation concentrates the juice in the thick syrup. After another clarification, the crystallization and centrifugation end the process. Lastly, the sugar is put out to dry.
The final product of the process will be either brown or raw sugar. Some methods modify the color of the sugar, and there are refiners which do the final touch to get the ordinary, refined sugar we all know about.
Types of Sugar
White Sugar
This type of sugar is the most common and is found almost anywhere. This is the regular crystallized white sugar used in most recipes. As sugar is easily flammable, there are certain exceptions for its use in the kitchen.
Brown Sugar
This is the raw result of sugar after being dried up.It is light brown, and its taste is partially different compared to white sugar. It’s frequently used in certain beverages, such as tea, in most of the cases.
Liquid Sugar
Liquid sugar is essentially the white sugar that has been dissolved in water. Its use is common in prescriptions that require sugar to be dissolved beforehand.
Sugar continues to be one of the most used products in the food industry, and it will probably remain as the most demanded in areas, such as the pastry and the manufacturing of sweets and candies. CoAgro takes part in the import of all sugar products mentioned above; their role in the distribution and supplying of this type of goods makes them the best option to get sugar. All their contact information can be found below. Be sure to contact them if you’re looking for the best suppliers.
